Plush Turtle & Facts
One has to wonder what it must be like for a plush turtle to sit on a shelf or in a toy bin, day after day, waiting for someone to come along and take a liking to it. Or, even the plush turtle whose picture is seen here and there on a website that sells stuffed animals. If you’re a believer in the ‘power’ of plush toys, then you know plush turtles have feelings too and as is the case, their life of waiting and hoping, is not a very pleasant one.
After baby loggerhead turtles hatch, they have a way to go before they get from their egg (on the beach), to the ocean. They have to plow through different types of sand some of it moist and compact along with dune grass and any other obstacles they may encounter along the way. Given their limbs are made for living their life in the ocean, how does such a small hatchling make the difficult journey?
The Georgia Institute of Technology, recently conducted a field study of the baby sea turtle species Caretta caretta (from Jekyll Island on the coast of Georgia) and their limbs, and the way in which they use them to get from their hatched egg to the open water. This particular research would be valuable information for engineers in designing robots which could be used to travel over different types of surfaces.
Two types of surfaces, including loosely packed sand and a sandpaper covered, hard board, were introduced to the turtles in the study to see exactly how they would move. With the use of high-speed cameras filming the action, researchers were able to see exactly how the turtles changed up their movement based on the type of surface they were on. For instance, while on loose, packed sand, the turtles flippers dug [into the sand] in such as way so their body became lifted off the ground. Essentially, with their bellies raised, the hatchling could then jerk forward, stop, and then do it all over again. In contrast, when on the hard sandpaper board, the turtles used their claws on their wrists to anchor themselves into the sandpaper and then moved themselves forward; with this forward movement, their wrists did not bend which meant they kept their limbs fully extended. In addition, when moving in a forward motion, one of their shoulder’s rotated toward their body. The end results showed that the turtles maximum speed on both surfaces was the same, but when on sand as compared to the sandpaper board, their average speed was reduced by 28 percent.
Luckily, in the life of a plush turtle, their limbs have not been designed for movement of any kind, unless of course, they are manipulated by a human for them. With its soft, snuggable body, a plush turtle is in for more cuddles and hugs than the worry of getting from the sand to the beach.

Burn Marks,
I ordered 2 dogs from this vendor and both had 2 to 3 burn marks through out the body. I looks like they are burn marks from the manufacturing process to singe some the the seams together.

|No replacement for a real Cav, but it will do just fine!,
It’s a stuffed dog, that’s pretty obvious. The real question is of quality – and I give 5 stars to quality. It is very soft, it does not shed (that is, fabric doesn’t fall apart in your hands), and it is very snugly.
I gave this to my girlfriend to tie her over till she gets a real Cavalier puppy in a couple months, and she loved it!
As for durability – well, unless you throw it to your dog or a child who likes to tear things apart, this little pup will last a lifetime!

|This puppy made my niece very happy,
This puppy was very durable and soft (which is what I was hoping for). It was also life-like. My niece fell in love with my son’s cavalier king charles puppy (a real one), and I thought this stuffed animal would make a nice substitute since I couldn’t get her a real dog. She was very grateful and loves it.
